Entergy Arkansas reached an agreement with organizations opposed to the use of coal and other fossil fuels to generate electricity that allows the company to secure nearly 50 years’ economic benefit from each of two coal-fired plants in Arkansas. The agreement allows the company to move forward with plans to replace these older generating plants with newer, highly efficient generation resources for Arkansas — a result that allows Entergy Arkansas to continue delivering long-term, cost-effective power to customers. The deal also provides a predictable transition for employees of the plants, a positive economic result for customers and an end to ongoing lawsuits over the use of coal at the plants.
As non-residential customers prepare budgets for 2019, we want to remind you about an important line item on your electricity bill, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Credit. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Credit, which began in April 2018, will be substantially reduced in January 2019 on non-residential customer bills as it reaches is expiration period.
Residents in El Dorado may have noticed trucks and crews around town working on a significant equipment upgrade. Workers are scheduled to rebuild transmission lines through the middle of November. There will be more work in substations from December through February, although not as visible to customers.
Twenty nonprofit organizations in communities served by Entergy Arkansas, Inc., were among the beneficiaries of more than $142,000 awarded through the Entergy Charitable Foundation first round of grants for 2018.
