Tropical Storm Ida is moving through the Gulf of Mexico this weekend and is projected to make landfall near the central Louisiana coastline on Sunday afternoon.
During the winter storm in February, Entergy employee Matt Courtney of Clinton received a call from an elderly neighbor whose power was out. She had been running a space heater with a portable generator and needed help connecting it to her refrigerator to keep her food from spoiling.
Entergy employees from Louisiana and Texas, along with several contract partners, recently volunteered to spread mulch leftover from Entergy’s tree removal and trimming maintenance activities to improve the conditions of the walking trails.

Entergy’s restoration workforce supported its communities through one of the most active hurricane seasons in history in 2020. We are ready to respond again if needed during what forecasters predict will be another active season.
At its peak, the storm caused 10,000 outages throughout the New Orleans area. In addition to Entergy New Orleans’ base restoration crews, we had approximately 150 additional crew members helping to restore power. Assessments include 30 poles down and 12 transformers damaged as a result of the severe weather.
