Entergy’s Louisiana utilities are sending a team of 170 employees and contractors to help safely restore power in Northwest Florida following anticipated widespread damage by Hurricane Michael.
Winter Storm Riley’s powerful blow to the East Coast continued to be felt Sunday with approximately 1 million homes and businesses in 16 states still in the dark. As part of Entergy’s mutual assistance contingent, some 200 Louisiana employees and contractors are on their way to help restore power to those who need it.
Answering a call for help from electricity providers in the northeast United States, Entergy operating companies are sending 305 linemen plus support personnel to the region in anticipation of a massive restoration effort following landfall of Hurricane Sandy.
The Edison Electric Institute today honored Entergy Corporation with the association's "Emergency Recovery Award" and "Emergency Assistance Award" for its outstanding power restoration efforts to its own customers throughout 2011 and to other utility company customers following Hurricane Irene.
