Entergy New Orleans and Entergy Louisiana employees and contractors are closely monitoring the progress of Potential Tropical Cyclone 6 in the lower Gulf of Mexico and are preparing for the potential development of a tropical system that could impact South Louisiana midweek.
Hurricane season starts Saturday, June 1, and experts predict another active season.
Crews and contractors are assessing damages and working quickly to restore power where it is safe to do so. As of 11 a.m., approximately 73,100 customers in Louisiana were without power as the system was still impacting most of the state with the potential of more weather moving in behind it.
