Get to know our people at Entergy Texas with #MeetTheCrew

Meet Ryan Magee, manager of public affairs at Entergy Texas. He’s from Pride, Louisiana, a town just as strong as its name that’s located near Baton Rouge. In his downtime, Ryan enjoys woodworking, metalworking, home improvement projects, and is currently working on converting a school bus into an RV (#skoolie).

Ryan and his wife, Stephanie, enjoy traveling, both internationally and domestically, and exploring new restaurants.

“One of our favorite trips was to China,” said Ryan. “It was very humbling to stand on the Great Wall and witness something so massive that was built by hand.”

He started at Entergy as a student intern while attending Louisiana State University (GEAUX Tigers!) and has been with the company for 22 years. Ryan has held 9 different positions across Entergy Louisiana and Entergy Texas.

What are some of your career highlights?
Being an intern for Entergy while also being a student at LSU. I took great pride in completing projects and learned a lot of real-world applications for the engineering theories I was learning in school. Working closely with the substation and operating teams as an intern was the catalyst that made me want to work for Entergy after college.

The major accounts service manager role helped me identify my passion for building relationships with internal and external customers, and the importance of networking and constantly learning new things.

I would say all my roles within the company such as a distribution operation center engineer, substation relay supervisor,  industrial account executive, up to my current role are worth listing as highlights because each taught me new lessons that helped shape the way I approach every situation.

What is your definition of success?
Making a meaningful contribution to the success of Entergy in achieving their goals. I want to be seen as a valuable team leader and attract great talent to the Entergy family. Success for me is to see the employees that I work with achieve their goals and move up in the organization.

Next place on your travel bucket list?
I want to take a European river cruise through Germany.

What’s an essential part of your daily routine?
COFFEE is a must for my daily routine. I love the flavor and the moment to relax and reflect on what is coming up in my workday.

What’s your go-to coffee order?
I drink my coffee hot and black.  No frills coffee.
