Entergy New Orleans and Entergy Louisiana storm update – 4/10/24, 11 a.m.

04/10/2024

Entergy crews and contractors are assessing impacts to the electric system and working quickly to restore power where it is safe to do so as a powerful storm system packing high winds that were forecast to be upward of 70 mph moves across Louisiana.

As of 11 a.m., approximately 73,100 customers in Louisiana were without power as the system was still impacting most of the state with the potential of more weather moving in behind it. The combination of ongoing weather and power restoration efforts will cause outage numbers on our View Outage map to fluctuate into the afternoon. The outages are widespread and scattered with no region being particularly harder hit than another.

In the field, crews are finding that high winds have downed trees and limbs and damaged structures and blown vegetation and debris into roadways as well as our electric equipment. Tree trimmers and lineworkers are working in tandem — from Monroe to Lake Charles, Baton Rouge and New Orleans — to clear trees and limbs and repair or, in some cases, replace equipment like crossarms and transformers that are beyond repair.

The most dangerous part of a storm can sometimes be immediately after inclement weather moves through because power lines and other electric equipment may be on the ground. There is no way to know whether this equipment is energized by looking at it, so keep your distance from it and report it to us at 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243). Additionally, for their safety and yours, please keep your distance from utility crews and their worksites.

While it is too soon to know how long it will take to restore power to all customers, crews will continue assessing damages and restoring power and provide information to local networks so that estimated times of restoration can be developed and provided to customers. Please continue to check back on our Storm Center or social media pages for updates and sign up for message alerts.

If you are without power, please check for any damage to the electrical equipment attached to your home or business. If any electrical meters or wiring appear to be damaged, please contact an electrician for assistance. If your electrical equipment appears to have no damage, please call 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243).
