Entergy Arkansas storm update – 6/20/23, 10:30 a.m.

Entergy Arkansas has engaged nearly 1,900 employees and contractors around the state working to restore power to remaining customers impacted with an outage as a result of the multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms on Sunday, June 18th.

Restoration teams are responding to damages as quickly and safely as possible. As of this morning 6,558 Entergy customers are still without power. With the support of helicopters assisting in identifying damages, we have identified 198 broken poles, 613 spans of downed wire, 66 damaged transformers and 87 damaged cross arms to be replaced.

If you are still without power, check for damages to the electrical equipment attached to your home or business. If the service line to your home or business has been damaged by this storm, you may have damage to your meter base. If it is damaged, you may need to have an electrician make repairs as well as a permit before Entergy Arkansas can safely reconnect service. The following chart shows estimated restoration times for 90 percent of the customers in the affected areas. If you do not see your town, it is most likely included in the largest, nearest town, as it is part of a bigger network.

Pope County

Russellville

In the Russellville Network Entergy has completed its damage assessment.  We have identified approximately 109 broken poles, 212 spans of wire, 43 broken cross arms, 32 destroyed transformers and 99 spans of wire that need tree trimming.  Entergy has backyard and track machines for several inaccessible areas.  We have additional resources coming from Conway, Little Rock, and Northeast Arkansas to assist with storm restoration. We currently have 150 linemen and management on site, 16 tree trimmers and 68 scouts assisting with the restoration efforts. We will have crews working today on Maple Springs Rd. and Cliff and Stream area, Hudson Rd., Buck Mountain Rd., S. Independence, and S. Jonesboro area, as well as N. Boston and S. Boston Ave. areas. We estimate all customers who can receive power will be restored by 10 p.m. Wednesday. Cooling centers are open at Crawford and Oakland Heights Elementary until 8 p.m. tonight.

Damage assessment are 100% complete. Currently 12 customers remain without power. Entergy personnel and additional resources will be working on County Line Road in the Bald Knob area, to restore those customers as quickly and safely as possible. We estimate all customers who can receive power will be restored by 12 p.m. today. A cooling center is open at the Carmichael Center until 8 p.m. tonight.

Bradley County

Warren

Crews will continue to work in the Crossett, Hamburg and Fordyce area. As other crews arrive, they will be working in these areas as well. Crews are working as quickly and as safely as possible to get power restored to those customers however due to extensive transmission damage the restoration process is taking longer than expected. Due to structural damage to our transmission lines, we estimate that all customers who can safely receive power to be restored by 12 p.m. Wednesday.

Clark County

Arkadelphia

There were approximately 4,000 outages at the peak of the storm, approximately 300 customers remain without power mostly in the Blevins area, one of the hardest hit locations. As of 9 a.m. today, 100% of damage assessments have been completed. Damages identified include 20 broken poles, 105 spans of wire down, 20 damaged transformers and 65 downed trees. We currently have 14 crews in the field and estimate all damage assessments will be completed today and all customers who can safely receive power will be restored by 10 p.m. today.

SAFETY FIRST!

Be sure to report any downed power lines and follow all safety precautions when using generators.

To protect yourself and your families, follow these recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

• Drink fluids, even if you don't feel thirsty.
• Wear loose, lightweight clothing and a hat.
• Replace salt lost from sweating by drinking fruit juice or sports drinks.
• Avoid spending time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Wear sunscreen: a sunburn affects the body's ability to cool itself.
• Air conditioning is the best way to cool off; if you are using a generator, do so safely.

As with any weather event, please be mindful of the following safety tips:

• Live wires can be deadly. Stay away from downed power lines. Call 1-800-9OUTAGE or 1-800-968-8243 to report downed or dangling power lines, damaged or downed poles or other damaged equipment.
• Do not trim trees or remove debris on or near downed power lines. Only power company crews or their contractors should remove trees or limbs touching power lines. Again, stay away from downed power lines.
• Keep away from the immediate areas where crews are working. There is always the danger of moving equipment and the possibility of construction materials, limbs or overhead wires falling to the ground.
• If you plan on using a generator for temporary power, get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility electric system before hooking up to your main electric panel. 
• Do not run a generator in a confined space without adequate ventilation. Use them only outdoors, following all manufacturers’ safety guidelines.
• Turn off any electrical appliances that can easily be turned to the off position until power is restored.
