Entergy Arkansas storm update – 6/19/23, 7 p.m.

Crews working to restore power in the Russellville area.

Entergy Arkansas has nearly 1,900 employees and contractors working around the state to restore power to more than 44,000 customers who lost power throughout the day Sunday due to severe thunderstorms.

Restoration teams are responding to damages as quickly and safely as possible. As of this evening around 16,000 Entergy customers are still without power. With the support of helicopters assisting in identifying damages, we have identified 198 broken poles, 613 spans of downed wire, 66 damaged transformers and 87 damaged cross arms to be replaced.

Technical difficulties may result in delayed information on the outage map. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

The following chart shows estimated restoration times for 90 percent of the customers in the affected areas. If you do not see your town, it is most likely included in the largest, nearest town, as it is part of a bigger network.

Pope County

Russellville

In the Russellville Network we have scouted and identified approximately 109 broken poles, 212 spans of wire, 43 broken cross arms, 32 destroyed transformers, 40 homes and businesses with broken service wires, and 66 spans of wire that need tree trimming. Entergy has assessed as much as 80% of the damages. Entergy is also adding additional backyard and track machines for several inaccessible areas. In Dardanelle we have restored power to the North 6^th, 7^th and 8^th street areas.  We currently have 150 linemen and management on site, in addition to 16 tree trimmers, and 68 scouts assisting with the restoration efforts. We expect power to be restored to the Morgan Rd area by 8pm. We currently have crews working near the W. and E. Circle drive.

White County

Searcy

Damage assessment are currently 95% complete. Currently 575 customers remain without power in Searcy and surrounding areas. Entergy personnel and additional resources are working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. Software issues are causing some delays, as well as inaccurate outage information. We estimate all customers who can receive power will be restored by 10 p.m. tonight. A cooling center is open at the Carmichael Center until 8 p.m. tonight.

Bradley County

Warren

Power has been fully restored to the Ashley County Medical Center, Walmart and the City of Crossett water system. Crews are working as quickly and as safely as possible to get power restored to as many customers as possible however due to extensive transmission damage the restoration process is taking longer than expected.  With 70% of damage assessed we still have 17 poles and 55 spans of wire down. Crews will continue to work in the Crossett, Hamburg, and Fordyce area. As other crews arrive, they will be put to work in these areas as well. Due to structural damage to our transmission lines, we estimate that all customers who can safely receive power to be restored by 12 p.m. Wednesday.

Clark County

Arkadelphia

There were approximately 4,000 outages at the peak of the storm, approximately 500 customers remain without power mostly in the Belvins area, one of the hardest hit. As of 7 p.m., 95% of damage assessments have been completed. Damages identified include 17 broken poles, 95 spans of wire down, 15 damaged transformers, and 65 downed trees. We estimate all damage assessments will be completed today and all customers who can safely receive power will be restored by 12 p.m. Tuesday.

SAFETY FIRST!

Be sure to report any downed power lines and follow all safety precautions when using generators.

To protect yourself and your families, follow these recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

• Drink fluids, even if you don't feel thirsty.
• Wear loose, lightweight clothing and a hat.
• Replace salt lost from sweating by drinking fruit juice or sports drinks.
• Avoid spending time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Wear sunscreen: a sunburn affects the body's ability to cool itself.
• Air conditioning is the best way to cool off; if you are using a generator, do so safely.

As with any weather event, please be mindful of the following safety tips:

• Live wires can be deadly. Stay away from downed power lines. Call 1-800-9OUTAGE or 1-800-968-8243 to report downed or dangling power lines, damaged or downed poles or other damaged equipment.
• Do not trim trees or remove debris on or near downed power lines. Only power company crews or their contractors should remove trees or limbs touching power lines. Again, stay away from downed power lines.
• Keep away from the immediate areas where crews are working. There is always the danger of moving equipment and the possibility of construction materials, limbs or overhead wires falling to the ground.
• If you plan on using a generator for temporary power, get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility electric system before hooking up to your main electric panel. 
• Do not run a generator in a confined space without adequate ventilation. Use them only outdoors, following all manufacturers’ safety guidelines.
• Turn off any electrical appliances that can easily be turned to the off position until power is restored.
