11/02/2022

The City of West Monroe has received a grant from Entergy Services, LLC to install electric vehicle chargers within the city.

A grant in the amount of $98,100 has been awarded to the City of West Monroe for the installation of these chargers.

Entergy established the “Environmental Initiatives Fund” in 2001 to support environmentally beneficial projects with an emphasis on climate change, solutions and sustainability. Grant funds will be used to implement the West Monroe Electric Vehicle Charger Project which will include the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in downtown West Monroe and near the West Monroe Sports & Events Facility, an indoor sports complex currently under construction on city-owned property near Interstate 20.

“We are extremely thankful to Entergy for providing this grant to the City of West Monroe,” said Mayor Staci Mitchell. “We know the number of electric vehicle owners is increasing throughout the country, and we are glad to be able to provide this service to our residents and to our visitors.”

“We’re proud to partner with the City of West Monroe on this endeavor,” said Phillip May, Entergy Louisiana president and CEO. “Our customers are increasingly seeking out greener products and services and we’re thrilled that we can play a part in meeting that demand. These charging stations will help pave a brighter future for the community for years to come.”

Installation of the electric vehicle chargers should take place sometime in early 2023.
