Wintry Weather Continues to Move Through Our Territory

12/08/2018

Wintry weather continues moving through the company’s service territory. Freezing precipitation and rain are occurring in the northern and southern areas, respectively. Continued winter precipitation will affect our territory today and tonight, potentially causing additional power outages. The forecast calls for up to 1/4 of an inch of ice, plus snow and freezing rain in northern Arkansas.

Our crews are actively restoring service to our customers whose power is affected by this weather event. We have positioned nearly 300 additional restoration workers in Arkansas to be close to where they are needed to restore power. Our crews are prepared to work long hours, restoring service to customers as quickly and as safely as possible.

We will know more about restoration times after the storm passes and we are able to fully assess damage. When it’s safe, our damage assessment teams will patrol the lines and view our facilities to determine the amount of damage to our electrical system.

Our scouts provide details that help us know what we need to do to restore your service and to let you know how long it may take.

You should stay safe during the storm. There is no way to know if a downed line is energized or not, so if you see one, keep your distance and call 1-800-9OUTAGE (800-968-8243). Stay away from debris from trees and other vegetation. It may be electrically charged from underground or downed power lines.
